Digital feminism initiatives have been utilizing online platforms to advance women’s rights and tackle gender-based discrimination, cyber violence, and economic inequality. For example, in Malaysia, hashtags such as #MakeSchoolASaferPlace #AkuBukanDagang have been employed to highlight women who are fighting against education and workplace discrimination whereas globally, movements like #MeToo has empowered women to challenge and bring attention to gender-based misconduct and sexual harassment. Furthermore, various digital programs like Go-eCommerce and e-Usahawan have also been launched in Malaysia to further increase participation opportunities for women living in rural places regarding entrepreneurship.
