On International Women's Day, the InterAmerican Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) released a press statement in which they reiterated the need for states to fulfill their obligation to women's rights. The IACHR does note that its member states have achieved some progress to address gender inequality, noting a rise in the percentage of women and girls that finish secondary education, and the fact that the region has one of the highest percentages of female parliamentary representatives. The IACHR did note significant challenges moving forward regarding gender-based violence, poverty, and accessibility of health services as issues that states must address to abide by their international obligation to women's rights.
