The Turkish National Police (TNP) recently established several new bureaus across Turkey to fight domestic violence and other forms of violence against women. The TNP appointed a veteran woman police officer to head the largest bureau in the capital of Istanbul. The purpose of the bureaus is to provide women survivors of violence with specialized services, support and protection. The government plans to open similar bureaus in all 81 Turkish provinces.
