The US State of Michigan has enacted a new law prohibiting gun ownership for eight years or more for persons convicted of misdemeanors related to domestic violence.  Previously, such a ban applied only in cases with felony convictions.  The new law is similar to laws in 31 other US states and the District of Columbia.
