The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)’s Combating Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the South Caucuses Project has started a three-year program specifically on Azerbaijan. The GBV Project in Azerbaijan’s first newsletter was released earlier this month. It includes news about a UNFPA conference on Combating Violence Against Women, GBV Project outreach to the academic community, surveys and public service announcements on domestic violence, GBV victim support groups, a documentary on domestic violence and human trafficking, and the Project’s plans for the international 16 days of activism. Finally, the newsletter announces that a UNFPA documentary series released throughout 2008, titled “Women on the Frontline,” will be translated and dubbed into Azerbaijani, to be aired on Azerbaijani television stations in December 2008.
