United States: Polaris Project Releases 2015 Human Trafficking Statistics


The anti-trafficking organization, the 
Polaris Project, reports that its national hotlinereceived over 21,000 calls related to human trafficking in 2015. According to the group's 2015 statistics, the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline also received approximately 1,500 completed web-forms, 12,000 emails and 1,400 texts to the Polaris “BeFree" textline. From these calls and reports, the Polaris Project identified 5,544 potential human trafficking cases from all 50 U.S. states.

Polaris reports a 24% increase in survivors of human trafficking reaching out for help since 2014. Additionally, since December 2007, over 48,000 likely victims of human trafficking have been identified through the hotline service.
