United States: New Report Outlines Multiple Forms of Human Trafficking in the US

The anti-trafficking organization the
Polaris Project has released a new report detailing the many forms of sex and labor trafficking in the United States, including a “unique trafficker profile, recruitment tactics, the standard victim profile, and method of control.” According to the Polaris Project, defining all forms of trafficking as either sex or labor trafficking obscures how “trafficking networks actually operate,” making it far more difficult for advocates and law enforcement to disrupt trafficking organizations and help victims.

The full report, “The Typology of Modern Slavery: Defining Sex and Labor Trafficking in the United States,” is available from the Polaris Project’s website.
