United States: Congress Approves New Legislation to Protect Sex Trafficking Victims

The House and Senate of the U.S. Congress have approved new legislation to combat sex trafficking and protect victims. The Justice for Victims of Sex Trafficking Act will create a compensation fund for victims, establish measures to reduce demand for trafficked women and girls, and encourage states to enact safe harbor laws for child victims of sex trafficking. U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to sign the legislation into law.
