UN Women’s latest report, Women’s Rights in Review 30 Years After Beijing, warns of growing global threats to women’s and girls’ rights, from increased discrimination to weakened legal protections and funding cuts. While progress has been made—such as improved maternal health and greater political representation—violence, digital exclusion, and rising misogyny continue to hinder gender equality. The report introduces the Beijing+30 Action Agenda, outlining six key areas for action, including digital access, poverty reduction, violence prevention, and climate justice. Sustained efforts are needed to counter backlash and fulfill the promises of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
