King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued a royal decree overturning the law that prohibits women in Saudi Arabia from driving. The majority of the Council of Senior Religious Scholars in Saudi Arabia had approved the reform, according to the royal decree, although any change must “apply and adhere to the necessary Sharia standards.” King Salman’s reform is expected to take effect in June 2018.
