In Poland's recent national elections, a record number of female candidates won seats in the more powerful Sejm lower house of Parliament, although the number of women in the less powerful upper house Senate dropped. Voter turnout among women slightly outpaced that of men. The conservative Law and Justice Party lost its parliamentary majority after eight years in power.
