After a two-day debate, members of the Polish Parliament have advanced legislative proposals to repeal the nation's near-total ban on abortion. The legislation will next proceed to a parliamentary commission for further consideration. Prime Minister Donald Tusk's party's proposal would legalize abortion up to 12 weeks. Any changes may still face opposition and a veto from President Andrzej Duda of the more conservative Law and Justice party.
