Poland: A bold step toward queer visibility with Warsaw's new queer museum
Monday, December 23, 2024 10:25 AM

The Queer Museum, Central and Eastern Europe’s first of its kind, opened on December 6, 2024, in Warsaw, showcasing artifacts celebrating queer history and resilience. The museum highlights Poland’s complex LGBTQ+ past, from interwar progressiveness to present challenges, such as “LGBT-free zones”. Organized by Lambda Warsaw, it aims to counter historical oppression with stories of empowerment and emancipation. Its prominent city-center location and accessible design symbolize a bold, inclusive statement against marginalization.
