Polaris Projects, a United States based organization in the global fight against human trafficking and modern day slavery, launched the 2013 State Ratings Map. The State Ratings Map ranks each state on its response to human trafficking in a comprehensive 57 page report.

Four years ago, Polaris Project started rating all 50 states and the District of Columbia, based on ten categories critical to establishing a basic legal framework that combats human trafficking, punishes traffickers, and supports survivors. The organization hopes that it will give a sense of the states where laws are strong and also the states where more work is needed.
