In early February, Amnesty International reported that increased levels of gang violence in Haiti have led to gross human rights violations against children: cases of rape, sexual violence, forced recruitment, killings and acts of violence. They also highlight sexual crimes against girls, especially since perpetrators generally face impunity and there are no adequate health care services for the victims. Amnesty International concludes that the local government and the international community must come forward to aid Haiti in addressing gang violence, in order to help repair victims and protect the rights of children.
