The European Women’s Lobby (EWL) Centre on Violence Against Women has released a lobbying kit for EWL members and supporters to utilize in their efforts to effectively communicate their concerns regarding women’s rights prior to the Council of Europe’s Convention. The Convention is designed to recognize, prevent, and combat the existence of male violence against women, and will likely result in the adoption of a human rights instrument that will be binding on the Council of Europe Member States.

The EWL has provided this lobbying kit as a tool for women’s rights NGOs to influence the drafting and adoption of this Convention. The kit provides helpful information regarding the process of the Convention, when to act, what to do, and who to target. In the kit, the EWL has also provided a model lobbying letter and press release, as well as background information regarding male violence against women in Council of Europe countries.
