In response to Cyprus’s higher-than-EU-average rates of gender-based violence, where over one-third of women and one-fifth of children have faced abuse, the NGO Support Centre has launched a comprehensive project to address this issue. The initiative includes advocating for the legal recognition of femicide, providing legal and psychosocial support to victims, and establishing day centers for those affected. Additionally, the project aims to combat workplace sexual harassment and offer targeted assistance to elderly women. A study documenting violence against children is also planned. This effort is part of a collaboration with the Greek Bodossaki Foundation, encompassing 29 actions across the region with a total budget of €2.3 million.
