Canada: Survivors of Domestic Abuse Suffer from Lack of Affordable Housing in Nova Scotia

Survivors of domestic abuse in the province of Nova Scotia face a lack of affordable housing, despite governmental funding in the millions of dollars directed to that need.  Women and children fleeing abuse are forced to remain for up to a year in so-called transition houses, although policies indicate such stays should last no more than about six weeks.  The problem spans both urban and small town communities.
