Armenia: Legal access to abortions increased to eight weeks

Since August 2024, legal reforms in Armenia have allowed women to obtain medical abortions outside of hospital settings, up to eight weeks into pregnancy, expanding access to reproductive healthcare. Although this reform reflects progress for women's reproductive health in Armenia, the Women's Resource Center of Armenia emphasizes how a lot of work still needs to be done to ensure a woman's right to bodily autonomy. These challenges include increasing access to abortion care to 12 weeks of pregnancy and eliminating the three-day waiting period for a woman to obtain a medical abortion after she makes the decision to terminate her pregnancy.
