Shadow Report on Discrimination Against Women in the Slovak Republic Is Released
Tuesday, July 15, 2008 2:34 PM

Several Slovakian NGOs working together have recently submitted a shadow report to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination of Women for the period 1998 through 2006.  The report focuses on select areas, rather than taking a comprehensive approach.  The areas discussed in the report include the legal protections against discrimination, the institutional framework of gender equality, access to sexual and reproductive health services, and the forced and coerced sterilizations of Romani women.  The authors have seen improvement in some of these areas, but found shortcomings remaining in all the areas discussed.
