Save the Children Sweden has recently published a report entitled "Gender-Based Sexual Violence Against Teenage Girls in the Middle East."

This report analytically compares the situation of violence towards the girl child --such as honor killings, child marriage, and sexual abuse -- in Yemen, Lebanon, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The report differs from other reports because of its new theoretical approach which recognizes gender-based sexual violence as a violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Utilizing this child-rights approach to combat gender violence in combination with a culturally sensitive approach allowed the report to reach conclusions which might facilitate processes of change specific to the region and culture.

The report includes individual chapters and policy recommendations for each country included in the research.  The report then concludes with an overall summary by Save the Children on how to address gender-based sexual violence  in the future.
