The Committee commended the creation of the Coordination Committee on Women's Issues (1996) and the Equality Opportunity Department (1999). The Committee expressed concern, however, over the insufficient representation of women at the decision-making level, the disparity between women and men's salaries, and the problem of trafficking in persons. The Committee asked for information on the government's efforts to implement laws on gender equality, and to take steps to reduce unemployment among women and Roma. The Committee also recommended that the government enforce domestic violence laws and implement preventative measures to combat both domestic violence and trafficking.
