International Conference on Violence against Women to Be Held in Kosice 8/12/2008 2:28 PMThe international conference "Role of Women’s Refuges in the Prevention and Elimination of Violence against Women“ is being organized by Fenestra and Women Against Violence Europe (WAVE) Office, both having long-term experience with tackling the issue of violence against women.
The exchange of experience and models of good practice in prevention and elimination of domestic violence against women are the main objectives of the conference. The conference will take place on 25th September 2008, in Kosice, with contributions from experts on violence against women from 9 European countries and the U.S. The conference will be divided into two parts.
In its first part, the conference will be dedicated to specialized services for women and children – survivors of violence. Representatives of state, public and non-governmental institutions and organizations will take part in the first part of conference.
The second part of the conference, "10th Annual WAVE Conference," will deal with issues related to violence against women which are currently being discussed at the international level. Experts from organizations dealing with violence against women from 15 – 20 European countries which are WAVE network focal points, will participate in this part of the conference.
We believe that the conference will introduce inspirational models of assistance to women and children experiencing violence, and will encourage cooperation between public and non-governmental organizations responsible for protecting women and children when taking specific steps towards building capacities of specific services for women and children who are survivors of violence.
