During one year in the existence of the crisis center “Bovari” (Trust) 1205 women sought assistance as reported by Gulnora Ahrorova, Director of the center (under Committee on women and family). “Mostly they were women who experienced daily abuse from husbands, children, and mothers-in-law; 40% come for legal consultation and 60% seek psychological help,” she reported.  According to G. Ahrorova, one of the main goals of the center is to reduce the level of psychological trauma that vulnerable women are subject to.  “Our psychologists are willing to spend hours talking on a hot line in order to reduce stress; this year we had about 538 calls.”  Gulnora also pointed out that the center is cooperating with the Group for Social Development, a NGO working in the region and villages.
