A roundtable discussion in Dushanbe on December 2 presented the results of the work of the Women’s Program of TF IOO of the Soros Fund, which is part of the project on Violence Against Women Prevention.  The Soros Fund announced that the event was part of the international campaign of 16 days against violence. The campaign takes place from November 25 to December 10 all over the world with the goal of stopping violence against women and children. The roundtable was organized to discuss and inform the media of the results of the projects which are part of the Women’s Program. The projects are intended to help form societal opinion on violence against women as a human rights abuse, to raise awareness of the economic and social consequences of violence, and also to implement the results of the study into the educational process. The research results of the Women’s Program, conducted by the social and marketing research group “Afkor” during 2004-05, were presented during the roundtable.  The roundtable participants were informed of the results of the work in two crisis centers, “Umed” (Dushanbe) and the NGO “Nachoti Kudakon” (Kulyab).
