The Ministry of Social Security and Labour has drafted amendments to the National Program of Reduction of Violence against Women and proposed to introduce support for a hotline for victims of domestic violence. The hotline would operate twenty-four hours per day. Current existing telephone lines for women-victims do not provide consultations twenty-four hours per and every day. This would be the first hotline in Lithuania for women victims of violence operating twenty-four hours. For this purpose, the Ministry plans to spend around 200 000 litas (approx. 58000 euros) for 2008-2009.
