The Commission for Protection against Discrimination has received 300 applications since the beginning of the year, according to Kemal Eyup who is chairperson of the Commission. Four applications are for sexual harassment in the workplace, cited in radio Varna. Last year, the applications were 658, said Eyub. He believes the large number of applications does not mean that discrimination is increasing, but rather that Bulgarians are better informed. For the first time, applications in connection with personal and social status have been submitted.
